Imagine a beautiful sunny day. Venture out of the city centre and pop in at The Firkin Folly.
If, by some miracle, it isn’t pissing down or freezing bloody cold, why not stroll down the side to the Beer Garden where you can enjoy a pint or a glass of Chardonnay, away from traffic noise, watching the Oxford Eights or the Coxless Fours rowing by. It really is a perfect idyll. If, on the other hand, the weather is inclement, you can sit in our elegant orangery, warm and dry, surrounded by glass, with the same river view.

Don’t forget those cosy, quiet little rooms. Enjoy a jolly civilised cocktail in the peace and tranquility of a dimly lit haven where you get no mobile signal and the wifi is so crappy you have to disconnect from social media and actually socialise. If you are sad and lonely then bring a good book! There are many comfy booths and intimate little corner tables, so why not grab a menu off the bar and choose your new favourite pub grub, curated by Chef Jeff to satisfy the most discerning palate and the biggest bellies. Why not try the 64oz Ribeye!?
The Firkin Folly is a fabulous old-fashioned English pub situated on the south bank of the River Thames just across Folly Bridge. From the narrow frontage on Abingdon Road, the pub has been extended to the rear bit by bit and expanded into neighboring properties. As a result, the pub is a delightful, rambling adventure on our very own half of an island on the River Thames.
Make yourself at home!
DON’T BE A FIRKIN IDIOT
Respect our neighbours! Please leave quietly.
Don’t fall in the Thames. Ruby will not be fishing you out. You’ll be washed up at Iffley Lock
Fun Facts: a FIRKIN holds 8 gallons,
which is a quarter of a barrel,
and it’s Ruby’s favourite swear word;
a FOLLY is a foolish act or an ornamental
building with no practical purpose
